Nike Mercurial cleats (boots)

Everything we have tried has not worked and he ended up with a staph infection. As usual Nike want nothing to do with changing the cleats for another pair   Anyone has similar experiences and resolved them. They are way to tight, and with the top cover over the laces, it is hard to loosen them. We already have to buy another pair, as these are to hard to get on.
