Soccer is the world's most popular sport. No other sport is being played and watched by so many people. The question is however if soccer (or football as it's called in Europe) will continue to be the number one sport for ever. I personally think that it will.
Unlike for example baseball, it can be played all over the world, and with fairly cheap equipment. American football hasn't quite taken off outside America, a lot of people feel that the rules are too complicated. Plus not a lot of kids in the poor neighbourhoods of South America are likely to be able to afford the necessary equipment to play American football.
Soccer doesn't consist of so many equipment neccesities, all you need is a ball and your feet and you are set. Out of all the balls that my son have been bought, he has always turned them into soccer balls. Don't ask me why but that is just what he chose to do. So what does that tell us all.

| Soccer is definately a Universal language and will be. I don't speak Porugese well, but can go to Brasil and play with them right off the plane. I don't need a helmet, rule book, shoulderpads... Everyone just understands and has FUN!

Soccer is indeed a universal sport. It's really a shame that it is not so popular here in the United States than it seems to be in other countries. I suppose that is because we have other sports here, like baseball and American football.

I think this is just the beggining. If you might now,in the next few years there will be built immense soccer stadiums, especially in Europe,to house hundreds of thousands of fans. You can't get a better example of how people feel about soccer. All you need is a pair of shoes,a pair of shorts,a ball, and a field with your friends to play. The soccer frenzy is astronomical and it wont stop for at least the next 10 years.

| You have to understatnd that soccer basically grew up in Europe and has professionally been played since the late ninteenth century in the U.K. America developed it's own sports and it's society has enjoyed these sports. Now you see America reaching out to the international level to try and increase the fan base with Football and Baseball. Soccer has arrived but we just need to give it more time. Remmember our kids our growing up on this while our parents didn't. It has to get bigger!
