Hi Soccermom,
Guess I'm a little unclear on your question.
I don't want to answer it and not be clear on what exactly you are trying to figure out. If you are looking for advanced tactical info, you might want to go to footy4kids.
If it is basic info on the terms, that can be done easily.
Sorry for the "question to question".

No this is good. I was reading something (as I'm trying to help my son improve in his midfield position) and it talked about supporting the man and supporting the ball. What I understand this to be is When supporting the man, if he has the ball, position yourselft to support him especially when he is under pressure (which would be in reference to the term near. Supporting the ball, I presume to mean go to the ball when a pass (in particular a long pass) is sent; and read where the ball will go.
I'll go to footy4kids.

That is correct.
It is vital that the players on the field have two "angles" of support.
A defender will most likely put pressure from directly in front of the player.
This means that the supporting players must offer open avenues at an open angle away from the defender.
Constantly moving is the key.
You see this ALL the time in college and pro games but in youth games most players don't move enough.
